Questions
What must the QR code on a biostimulant label contain?
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (letter No. 3-7/2025-Biostimulants (167640) of 24 September 2025) asks that the QR code on the label of every biostimulant give: 1) the Gazette notification number and date, 2) the title of the biostimulant, 3) its composition, 4) the crops and 5) the dosage, in English, Hindi or a regional language.
How does the code give the information?
The code is a short link. Any phone camera or Google Lens shows it, and one tap opens a 2-page PDF: Page 1, the five items the Ministry asks for exactly as notified, and Page 2, your batch details. We first put all the text inside the code, as in the sample in the letter's Annexure, but phones showed such codes as "Search barcode" or nothing at all; a link works on every phone. Each code's pages are saved on nanokheti.com when you pay, with no end date.
Which Gazette notification goes in the QR code?
The notification that put the product's current entry in Schedule VI of the Fertiliser Control Order. Where a later order substituted the entry, the code gives that later order, matching the composition it shows.
What does a phone show when it scans the code?
A link to nanokheti.com/q/. One tap opens Page 1, as per Government guidelines: the five items the Ministry asks for, in the order and wording of the sample in its letter. Page 2, additional information: your unique identifier or GTIN, the batch number, the manufacturing and expiry dates and, if you give it, your web link. The link itself also carries the identifier, batch and dates.
Why does the code carry the batch details?
They are included in the price and let a buyer, dealer or inspector match the pack to its batch (they are the items the pesticide QR rule asks for). So each batch has its own code: it with every batch: order one per batch and print it at packing, or on a label printed for that batch. Your identifier and web link are kept on your device for the next batch.
What is a GTIN? Do I need one?
The Global Trade Item Number: the number under the barcode on your pack, issued by GS1 India (Indian numbers usually start with 890). It is optional here: type your GTIN or your own product code, or leave the box empty and we make a unique identifier for you, such as UID-7K3M-Q9TX: the same for this product in every order you place, and never all digits, so it cannot be mistaken for a GTIN. It is not the GSTIN, your tax number.
Can I order codes for many products at once?
Yes, up to 100 products in one order. Choose them one by one, or download the Excel sheet in step 1, fill one row per product (the product from the list, the batch number and the dates; the GTIN is optional) and upload it: the products and details fill in on the page, where you check them and the preview and pay. The codes are drawn as soon as the payment is received: about a minute at most for 100 products. One order has one batch of each product; for a second batch of the same product, place a second order.
How big should the QR code be on the label?
About 2.5 to 3 cm. The PDF shows each code at its smallest print size and large, as a vector graphic your designer can scale up but never below that size, and the PNG image is about 10 cm at 300 dpi. Print it in black on white and scan a printed proof with two phones before the print run.
What if the page says "Code not found"?
The whole code was not scanned, or it was not made here. Scan again with the code filling about half the screen. Codes made here open their page as long as nanokheti.com is online.
Does the QR code replace the label?
No. The label must still carry everything the Fertiliser Control Order asks for. The QR code is in addition, for checking the product. NanoKheti's FCO label generator makes the front and back label for Rs. 49 + GST.
